The Central Garage is located at the Public Works Yard at 440 South Main Street. Currently the department is comprised of two employees, a Shop Manager and 1 technician. Central Garage operates under the Director of Public Works.
Responsibilities
Central Garage responsibilities include ordering equipment and vehicles, scheduling repairs and service, administer fuel bid contracts, maintaining the public transit buses, fire and police vehicles. In addition to, they maintain all radios and electronic equipment added to city vehicles. All of those items are critical to the vehicle fleet owned by the city. Currently the city’s fleet consists of over 150 vehicles and equipment.
Central Garage is also responsible for maintaining the Public Works Warehouse, which includes purchasing and maintains the inventory necessary for the day to day operation of Public Works.
